![]() ![]() People who haven't lived in Brooklyn may not realize that Classon avenue is a street that runs though Bed Stuy Brooklyn, which at that time would have been a largely black neighborhood. It's a bit misguided to call anyone a Nazi sympathizer, but the fact remains that Type O Negative and Carnivore/Retaliation had some songs that were overtly anti-black.ĭer Untermensch uses all the semi-coded language of Regan-era "welfare queen" stereo typification of black people as lazy welfare bums. It just seems like most of the people making these claims are people that don’t have any context or familiarity with the metal genre or any of its sub genres. I feel like this demographic of people don’t understand that in most metal bands that cover those concepts the lyrics do not reflect the beliefs of the band members. Mayhem are pro-suicide, Municipal Waste encourages alcoholism and Black Sabbath are satanists who want you to smoke weed and do coke. If their music indicates that they’re all those things then fuck it Cannibal Corpse are pro-murder and rape then. I’m a leftist and I’ve never taken anything away from their music that would make me think that they’re far-right or genuine misogynists. ![]() It just makes me wonder if people actually take a step back after consuming some form of media to research if what they just read, watched or listened to is accurate. As everybody has already mentioned ‘Kill All the White People’ and ‘We Hate Everyone’ gets the message across very clearly that they’re not far-right or anything. It is a stretch to say that Type O or even Peter himself were Nazi sympathizers. As someone who’s listened to a lot of metal over the years and is a huge fan of Type O Negative. ![]()
